It was only a few years ago that if you labeled fluoride as a dangerous substance, you would be laughed at and scorned. For years, a select minority of individuals were the only ones raising the awareness of this health concern. Their cries have been and continue to be met with dissonance, despite the fact that the public’s opinion on fluoride has changed much in just a short time.

In fact, even the United States government has called for lower levels of water fluoridation following a study published in Environmental Health Perspectives, which found that increased fluoride consumption led to decreased IQ in children.

Communities are attempting to end water fluoridation, mainstream news is acknowledging its negative effects, and even a number of professional dentists have recognized the dangers of fluoride, and spoken out against its use and distribution. Most recently, the Palmer City Council of Alaska passed an ordinance repealing the town’s water fluoridation mandate. 

Sodium fluoride, the voyage from rat poison to toothpaste

Mainstream dentistry and oral health has been the vehicle through which sodium fluoride, a chemical byproduct of fluorine, has been injected into our everyday lives. Said to ‘fight tooth decay’ and ‘strengthen enamel,’ it has been proliferated into nearly every form of toothpaste. Dentists also apply fluoride topically to teeth during routine visits to produce said effects. It has been added to municipal water supplies since the early 1900s, under the same premise of aiding oral health and hygiene.

Despite this, fluoride has a notoriously negative track record in terms of how it is used, and the products that use it as an active ingredient. While being used in toothpaste and various mouth washes, fluoride is also the main ingredient in many rat poisons, Prozac (an anti-depressant found to actually lead to suicide and other health conditions), and is even labeled as a toxic substance.

Carnarvon residents have bombarded the WA Health Minister Kim Hames with more than 800 letters rejecting a plan to fluoridate their water supply.

Last year the Health Department announced it was considering adding fluoride to the Gascoyne town's water.
Some residents argue the water already contains naturally high levels of the compound.
North West MP Vince Catania, who presented the letters to Dr Hames, says they raise a number of serious health concerns.
"Reading some of the letters addressed to the Minister, you learn that fluoride has been banned in 11 different countries around the world, and can cause birth defects and many other issues," Mr Catania said.
"The absolute majority of people in Carnarvon do not want to see fluoride added to the water supply."

Fluoride and infants - Why parents are not being told about fluorosis

 (NaturalNews) Millions of infants have been overdosed with fluoride due to powdered infant formula being combined with fluoridated tap water. Parents, who prepare infant formula, have been deliberately kept in the dark regarding the risks of this overdose, for the simple reason that it casts doubt on water fluoridation. Because newborns only consume liquids, they receive much larger doses of fluoride than adults when you factor in body size. This overdose increases the risk of fluorosis.

In 2006 the Centers for Disease Control and the American Dental Association posted warnings on their websites advising caution when preparing powdered infant formula. They suggested parents use non-fluoridated water to avoid the increased risk of fluorosis. Fluorosis is a developmental disturbance that causes permanent spots or streaks to appear on a child`s teeth. Today there is increasing scientific evidence that fluorosis also results in a lowered IQ and more bone fractures. Called a "low grade chronic poisoning" by H. Trendly Dean, the father of fluoridation, fluorosis has always been a negative side effect of water fluoridation. It was accepted as a trade-off for reducing tooth decay through fluoridation. But the latest survey showed that 40% of American teenagers have fluorosis. This year the federal government proposed lowering the amount of fluoride added to tap water to reduce fluorosis.

DENTAL FLUOROSIS, THE FLUORIDE DISEASE

Dental Fluorosis is a disease caused by only one thing in our world, Fluoride. Even the World Health Organization admits:

"Ingestion of excess fluoride, most commonly in drinking-water, can cause fluorosis which affects the teeth and bones. Moderate amounts lead to dental effects, but long-term ingestion of large amounts can lead to potentially severe skeletal problems."

 Excessive ingestion of fluoride during the early childhood years may damage the tooth-forming cells, leading to a defect in the enamel known as dental fluorosis.

Teeth impacted by fluorosis have visible discoloration, ranging from white spots to brown and black stains.
Teeth with fluorosis also have an increased porosity of the enamel. In the milder forms, the porosity is mostly limited to the sub-surface enamel, whereas in the more advanced forms, the porosity impacts the surface enamel as well, resulting in extensive pitting, chipping, fracturing, and decay of the teeth.

The discoloration induced by fluorosis - particularly in its advanced forms - can cause significant embarrassment and stress to the impacted child, resulting in adverse effects on esteem, emotional health, and career success.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, 32% of American children now have some form of dental fluorosis, with 2 to 4% of children having the moderate to severe stages (CDC 2005).

While proponents of water fluoridation dismiss dental fluorosis as being simply a "cosmetic effect," recent research indicates that the rate of bone fracture among children with fluorosis (even in the mild forms) is higher than the bone fracture rates among children with no fluorosis.

As noted by Dr. Hardy Limeback, Head of Preventive Dentistry at the University of Toronto, "it is illogical to assume that tooth enamel is the only tissue affected by low daily doses of fluoride ingestion."

Hexafluorosilicic Acid and The NFPA 704 Scale

Hexafluorosilicic Acid, one of the forms of Fluoride used in Water Fluoridation, has a 3 Rating on the NFPA 704 (National Fire Protection Association) Hazardous Material Health Scale. This 3 Rating means: "Short exposure could cause serious temporary or moderate residual injury (e.g., chlorine gas)" Would you drink chlorine? Or inhale chlorine gas willingly?

		The NFPA website states that their standard scale:
				"The standard provides a readily recognized, easily understood system for identifying specific hazards and their severity using spatial, visual, and numerical methods to describe in simple terms the relative hazards of a material. It addresses the health, flammability, instability, and related hazards that may be presented as short-term, acute exposures that are most likely to occur as a result of fire, spill, or similar emergency."

The NFPA gives Hexafluorosilicic Acid a 3 rating on the Health Scale. This is denoted by a number 3 in the Blue Diamond, part of the Blue, Red, Yellow, and White Diamond we all have seen but many of us have never truly understood. The System was designed to help emergency responders deal with chemical and hazardous situations.


The Blue Area Represents "Health", what health hazards would exposure of a particular chemical present. Hexafluorosilicic Acid's 3 Rating is out of only 4. It is a very dangerous and hazardous chemical. It is not a question of if it will cause injury from residual use / consumption. It WILL cause injury with residual use / consumption, it's just a matter of how much we've consumed and how our body reacts to it.

The Red Area Represents "Flammability", which Hexafluorosilicic Acid is not.
The Yellow Area Represents "Instability or Reactivity" which doesn't concern Hexafluorosilicic Acid.
The White Area Represents "Special" for any special concerns not covered by the other three areas.

In Conclusion: WE ARE DRINKING A POISONOUS CHEMICAL!

We have to pick and choose our fights... The Fluoridation is the biggest problem now, a solution for disinfecting the Water without Chlorine is the next step. The Propaganda here is that they say "Fluoride, when administered at low levels, is proven to help prevent tooth decay."
